Li Guang Sheng: A Steward of Value, Service, and Integrity
Li Guang Sheng stands as a distinctive figure in Singapore’s financial industry, guided by an unconventional yet principled philosophy: 90 percent reliance on fundamental analysis and 10 percent on technical indicators. Since beginning his journey in 2006, he has drawn deeply from the wisdom of his clients—many of whom have retired early and continue to thrive on the strength of sound investments. It is from these value-driven individuals that he developed a strong foundation in intrinsic value investing and sustainable dividend yield strategies.
His talent gained early recognition when he secured second place in the prestigious Yahoo! Finance Gazillionaire Trading Competition in 2010. Over the past decade, he has consistently ranked among the top ten in multiple trading competitions, a testament to his enduring skill and discipline.
As client-directed trading was still in its early stages, Li became a pioneer coach at Phillip CFD. He was conferred the title of “Top CFD Specialist” in 2015 for his dedication to personalised coaching. Since 2011, he has actively mentored new Trading Representatives and was awarded “Best Mentor” by Phillip Securities in both 2014 and 2016.
Li’s contributions also extend significantly to Rotary. He served as President of the Rotary Club of Shenton (2009–2011) and as Assistant Governor of Rotary District 3310 (2013/2014). He was awarded “Outstanding Assistant Governor” in 2013/14 and “Most Outstanding Young Rotarian D3310” in 2015/16. Most recently, he received the Rotary Five Avenues of Service Award, which recognises individuals who have contributed meaningfully across all five areas of Rotary service: Club, Vocational, Community, International, and New Generations.
He has made media appearances on television, in The Edge Singapore, and as a speaker at numerous investment and career seminars. He also provides financial commentary for Lianhe Zaobao. In recent years, he has chosen to maintain a lower profile on social media, focusing his time and effort on charitable work to uplift the disadvantaged. He remains active on InvestingNote, as well as on Singapore radio stations 958 and 963.
Despite facing health challenges that led to stepping back from some leadership roles, Li’s dedication to service has not waned. He currently holds several active positions:

He played an instrumental role in advocating for the revival of the Singapore stock market and helped launch the Remisier Development Programme in collaboration with SGX, MAS, SAS and other key industry stakeholders.
Li holds a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences (Economics) with Merit from the National University of Singapore. He is ACLP-certified to train others. Since joining the stockbroking industry in 2006, he has served a broad spectrum of clients including retail investors, private companies, listed firms conducting share buybacks, clan associations, hedge funds, and C-suite executives. His work spans across equities, IPOs, private placements, bonds, private financing, and fund investments. He currently holds the title of Principal Investment Specialist at Phillip Securities.
He does not operate a blog or personal website and does not advocate for frequent trading. Instead, he encourages a disciplined and long-term approach:
“Keep it simple. Focus on fundamentals. Be comfortable with the yield even if the price drops.”
Having been taught by his own clients, Li believes in paying it forward. He actively shares his knowledge on InvestingNote to educate and empower the next generation of investors.
