Casey�s General Stores, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiaries (Casey�s) operate convenience stores under the name Casey's General Store in 14 Midwestern states, primarily Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois. The stores carry a range of food (including freshly prepared foods such as pizza, donuts, and sandwiches), beverages, tobacco products, health and beauty aids, automotive products, and other nonfood items. In addition, all Casey's stores offer gasoline for sale on a self-service basis. On April 30, 2013, there were a total of 1,749 stores in operation. There were 31 stores newly constructed, 26 acquired stores opened, and seven stores were closed, during the fiscal year ended April 30, 2013 (fiscal 2013). The Company operates a central warehouse, Casey's Distribution Center in Ankeny, Iowa, through which the Company supplies grocery and general merchandise items to its stores. Approximately 72% of Casey's total revenue, during fiscal 2013, was derived from the retail sale of gasoline.
