The Company offers a range of financial services through its wholly owned subsidiary, The Bank of South Carolina (the Bank). The Bank is a commercial bank, which operates principally in the Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties of South Carolina. The Company derives its income from interest on loans and investments (interest bearing assets). The primary source of funding for making these loans and investments is the Company�s interest and non-interest bearing deposits. As of December 31, 2012, the Company operated as a commercial bank from its four banking house locations. The Bank serves Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties (the Tri-County Area) as an independent, community oriented commercial bank.
