About Royston Tan
Royston Tan is an ex-stock analyst who currently runs a personal finance and investment blog at New Academy of Finance.
Royston graduated from NUS Business School back in 2007/08 and join a trading company as their financial analyst. He was later recruited to join a family office to help them manage their investment portfolio, with positions in both local and foreign stocks as well as multiple Private Equity deals.
In 2013, he joined the Sell-side industry in one of the local brokerage firms as an analyst, specializing in small-cap names, while being the lead analyst for the Oil & Gas/ Energy sector.
In 2015, Royston joined a foreign brokerage firm as their lead analyst in the Industrial, Energy, and Aviation sector. Since then he has been constantly ranked as one of the top Bloomberg analysts in his respective industries.
During his tenure as a sell-side analyst, Royston initiated coverage on more than 30 small and large-cap stocks listed in Singapore while concurrently contributing to many strategy pieces for both local and foreign investor consumption.
After more than 10 years in the Buy/Sell-side industry, Royston left to start New Academy of Finance, a website dedicated to educating investors on the basics of investing. Besides posting regularly on various personal finance articles on topics such as retirement portfolio, CPF, inflation issues etc, Royston also frequently post his views on SG and US listed stocks as well as investing concepts focusing on REITs and dividend growth investing etc.
