About Anuar
My journey in investing began in 1996 when I worked as a commodity broker for Ace Commercial Sdn Bhd, located at the Maybank HQ building. This role provided me with valuable knowledge and experience in trading Malaysia's Crude Palm Oil (CPO), Japanese Red Bean stocks (Japan Commodity Market), and global commodities via the ICE platform, using Metastock version 1 software.
After three years, I transitioned to the Forex Exchange market. However, I soon realized that it wasn't the right fit for me. A year later, I returned to the commodity exchange field by joining Okachi Sdn Bhd.
Fast forward to 2016, I re-entered the market—this time focusing on cryptocurrency. I began investing in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dogecoin. The period between 2017 and 2018 was particularly rewarding, as the crypto boom saw my portfolio surge to over a million ringgit.
I still remember the challenges of storing and withdrawing funds internationally, particularly in Singapore through BitX (now known as Luno), as well as in Indonesia (Indodax) and Thailand—then repatriating those funds into Malaysia’s banking system without alerting Bank Negara or the Inland Revenue. At that time, there were no clear regulations from the Securities Commission (SC), only cautionary notices from Bank Negara.
