United Rentals, Inc. (United Rentals) is a holding company. The Company is an equipment rental company and its network consists of 832 rental locations in the United States and Canada. The Company primarily conducts its operations through its wholly owned subsidiary, United Rentals (North America), Inc., and its subsidiaries. The Company offers approximately 3,100 classes of equipment for rent to construction and industrial companies, manufacturers, utilities, municipalities, homeowners, government entities and other customers. The Company operates in two segments: general rentals and trench safety, power and HVAC. This segment operates throughout the United States and in Canada. As of December 31, 2013, its fleet of rental equipment included approximately 410,000 units. In May 2014, the Company acquired the Power and HVAC assets of Blue-Stream Services LLC.
