UDR, Inc. (UDR) is a self administered real estate investment trust (REIT), which owns, operates, acquires, renovates, develops, redevelops, and manages multifamily apartment communities located throughout the United States. UDR holds interests in other operating partnerships, subsidiaries and joint ventures, owns and operates properties, issues securities from time to time and guarantees debt of certain of its subsidiaries. As of December 31, 2012, UDR owned approximately 94.9% of the limited partnership interests of the Operating Partnership (the OP Units). During the year ended December 31, 2012, the Company acquired the remaining 80% ownership interests in two apartment communities (633 homes) in Austin, Texas. As of December 31, 2012, the Company is developing eight wholly owned communities with 2,622 apartment homes, 76 of which have been completed.
