Murphy USA Inc. consist primarily of retail marketing of motor fuel products and convenience merchandise through a large chain of 1,172 retail stations owned and operated by Murphy USA, almost all of which are in close proximity to Walmart stores. The Company operates in two segments: Marketing and Ethanol. As of March 31, 2013, its retail stations are located in 23 states, primarily in the Southern and Midwestern United States. Of its stations, 1,016 are branded Murphy USA and 156 are standalone Murphy Express locations. Its retail stations under the brand name Murphy USA participate in the Walmart discount program that it offer at most locations. Its business also includes certain midstream assets, including product distribution terminals and pipeline positions. In December 2013, Murphy USA Inc. completed the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary Hankinson Renewable Energy, LLC which owns and operates the Hankinson, North Dakota ethanol plant to Guardian Hankinson, LLC.
