John Hancock Income Securities Trust (the Fund) is a closed-end management investment company. The Fund�s investment objective is to generate a high level of current income consistent with prudent investment risk. The Fund invests at least 80% of net assets in income securities, consisting of marketable corporate debt securities, governmental obligations and cash and commercial paper. The Fund may invest up to 20% of its total assets in income-producing preferred securities and common stocks. At least 75% of the Fund�s total assets will be represented by debt securities. The Fund�s portfolio includes Corporate Bonds, U.S. Government Agency, Collateralized Mortgage Obligations, Asset Backed Securities, Preferred Securities, Common Stocks, Preferred Securities, Capital Preferred Securities and Other Investments .
