The Fund�s primary investment objective is to generate income for distribution to its shareholders, with capital appreciation as a secondary objective. Its assets are invested in a diversified portfolio of debt securities, some of which may carry equity features. Up to 50% of the value of the Fund�s assets may be invested in restricted securities acquired through direct placement. The Fund may also invest in repurchase agreements. It invests in sectors, such as the United States Government & Agency Obligations, consumer discretionary, financials, industrials, energy, materials, telecommunication services, mortgage bonds, utilities, consumer staples, health care, foreign government obligations, information technology and short-term investments. The Fund�s investment advisor is John Hancock Advisers, LLC, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Manulife Financial Corporation (MFC).
