The GDL Fund (the Fund), formerly The Gabelli Global Deal Fund, is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund�s primary investment objective is to achieve absolute returns. The Fund will invest primarily in merger arbitrage transactions, and to a lesser extent, in corporate reorganizations involving stubs, spin-offs and liquidations. It will invest at least 80% of its assets in securities or hedging arrangements relating to companies involved in corporate transactions or reorganizations. The Fund may engage in futures contracts. The Fund invests in various sectors, such as United States Government Obligations, telecommunications, financial services, specialty chemicals, healthcare, energy and utilities, and consumer products. The Fund�s investment advisor is Gabelli Funds, LLC.
