Companhia Paranaense de Energia (COPEL) is a Brazil-based holding company involved principally in the electrical energy sector. The Company's business is structured in five segments: Generation and Transmission of Electricity (GET), Distribution and Sale of Electricity (DIS), Telecommunications (TEL), Gas, and Holding (HOL). In the GET segment, the Company produces electrical energy from hydro, wind and thermal sources and provides transport services and electrical energy transmission by constructing, operating and maintaining its substations and lines. In the DIS segment COPEL provides mainly distribution and sale of energy by operating and maintaining the infrastructure. In the TEL segment, the Company provides communications and telecommunications services through Copel Telecommunications. In the Gas segment, COPEL provides distribution of piped natural gas; it operates through Compagas. In the Holding segment, the Company operates through Copel and Domino Holdings.
