Cigna Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, is a global health services company. The Company�s subsidiaries are providers of medical, dental, disability, life and accident insurance and related products and services. It also offers Medicare and Medicaid products and health, life and accident insurance coverage�s primarily to individuals in the United States and selected international markets. The Company operates through five business segments, and the three segments which are most significant to its operations are Global Health Care, Global Supplemental Benefits, and Group Disability and Life. The other two segments are Run-off Reinsurance and Other Operations, including corporate-owned life insurance. For United States based customers, the Company operates 18 service centers that together processed approximately 160 million medical claims during the year ended December 31, 2013.
