Otter Tail Corporation is a holding company operating through its subsidiaries. It operates in five segments. Electric segment includes the production, transmission, distribution and sale of electric energy in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota by its subsidiary, Otter Tail Power Company. Wind Energy segment consists of a steel fabrication company involved in the production of wind towers. Manufacturing segment consists of businesses in manufacturing activities, such as contract machining, metal parts stamping and fabrication, and production of waterfront equipment. Construction segment includes businesses engaged in residential, commercial and industrial electric contracting, and construction of fiber optic and electric distribution systems, water and wastewater systems. Plastics segment consist of businesses producing polyvinyl chloride pipe in the upper Midwest and Southwest regions of the United States. In February 2013, it sold all of the assets of ShoreMaster.
