Commerce Bancshares, Inc. is a bank holding company. Through a wholly owned bank holding company, it owns all of the outstanding capital stock of Commerce Bank (the Bank). The Bank engages in general banking business, providing a range of retail, corporate, investment, trust, and asset management products and services to individuals and businesses. The Company also owns, directly or through the Bank, various non-banking subsidiaries. The Company operates in three segments: Consumer segment, Commercial segment and Wealth segment. In June 2011, the Bank became a state chartered Federal Reserve member bank. Effective September 1, 2013, Commerce Bancshares, Inc. announced that the shareholders of Summit Bancshares Inc parent company of Summit Bank, have approved the merger of Summit Bancshares Inc. (Summit) into a wholly owned subsidiary of Commerce Bancshares, Inc.
