George Kent (Malaysia) was established in Penang in 1936 as a service branch of the then parent company, George Kent Limited, United Kingdom. The company was incorporated in 1951 as George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad (GKM) and went public in 1974. GKM is an engineering company involved in manufacturing, trading, and investment and development of water infrastructure projects. The Industrial Marketing Division is a market leader in the supply of industrial process controls and instrumentation, telemetry, pipes, valves and fittings, industrial and domestic water meters, boilers, heaters, incinerators, oil and gas equipment, building management, security and automation systems. The Manufacturing Division produces a wide range of brass forging and casting products and components including water meters, ferrules, stopcocks, bibtaps and brass rods. The company also manufactures fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) panels for water storage tanks, under a licensing agreement with Sekisui Plant Systems Company Limited of Japan. The Infrastructure Division undertakes turnkey water projects and has successfully participated in BOT and privatized water projects in local and overseas markets.
