Southern Cable Group Berhad is principally a manufacturer of cables and wires that are used for power distribution, communications as well as control and instrumentation applications. Our key supporting activities for our cable and wire manufacturing operations include furnace and casting operations. We have two (2) electric furnaces and one (1) gas-fired furnace that melt copper and aluminium, respectively before casting them into rods to be used as core materials and transmitting medium for our cables and wires. Other supporting activities include the manufacture of plastic compounds that are used as insulation and protective layer materials for our cables and wires. We were also previously involved in the manufacturing of wooden cable drums used for the packaging, storage and delivery of our cables and wires. We currently source the wooden cable drums from external parties for our cable and wire manufacturing operations.
