With the distressed Evergrande and CDL big mistake into Sincere....coupled with the competition rules inm China, it is wise that Blackstone retract its interest..

[BEIJING] A US private equity firm has abandoned a planned US$3 billion purchase of Chinese property developer Soho China, with antitrust authorities yet to approve the deal.

Blackstone had hoped to expand its presence in the country through acquisition of Soho China, which holds prime real estate in cities like Beijing.

But its offer had been conditional upon clearance from China's competition authorities, and the parties concluded that the pre-conditions would not be satisfied within a designated time frame, according to a filing to the Hong Kong exchange dated Friday.

Investing is a test of character.

Portfolio Action (Singapore)
Injected fresh capital for more stake in $Mapletree Log Tr(M44U.SI) & $Frasers L&C Tr(BUOU.SI)
Divested $NetLink NBN Tr(CJLU.SI) to recycle into $Frasers Cpt Tr(J69U.SI) & $CapLand IntCom T(C38U.SI)

Portfolio Action (USA)
Divested $TSLA and recycled into $TCEHY & $BABA
Followed @ThumbTackInvestor into $SPRT for a sweet 58.93% profit in a week.

Honestly, I don't know what to feel about this quarter. I wasn't happy even though i made some money and my portfolio grew. I felt like I've been served some lessons the hard way. In summary..

1) Money is made in the holding.
I divested $SE at the start of Q2 to lock in a 21.53% gain because I felt like a correction is coming only to watch it shoot to its current price, I had my entry price at 217 back then.

2) Greed is a double edged sword.
I didn't sell $SPRT at the best time. At peak, i was sitting on 334.6% profit yet greed got the better of me. I wanted more profit and I thought sky was the limit. I set my TP further and further away.. 30, 50, 70 ..

I am not going to go deep into writing about my thought processes and how i messed up. You could have roughly guessed. Simply clown moves. But I have actually done my own reflection about the incidents. I would have done things differently if I can rewind time. I can't. So I am parking this here for your entertainment and to remind myself to avoid the same mistake in the time to come.

Cheers,
Jorism

Nice portfolio. Maybe a bit retail heavy with FCT and CICT so high up but honestly way more balanced than mine at this point. You’re going to HUAT to the moon bro

Reply to @tantan888 : Because retail reits has been beaten down very badly, so i accumulated more this year, if you look down my old post you will realize bank was my biggest holding in 2020. Anyway when i visit the malls i still see huge crowd (idk they spending as much or not) but the crowd gave me confidence in retail reits.

Trading really takes an edge. I know i can't really do trading, every time i try, market hands me a lesson. So my approach is to take a really long term view. Tesla and SE for me is super long term holdings. Aiming for multi-baggers 😄

Reply to @jonchew38 : Yes.. option trading is tough, not starting until i get them understood and trial at paper account. Thanks for sharing tho, appreciate it alot !

No point beating yourself too much about it. Think we had similar experience with SE. After divesting early this year, I went into SE again (average price around $206). Got out at $29x, thinking can get back in at lower price through a correction, but saw it fly instead. I feel I am getting numb to such outcomes already. Just chill and move on lor.

On SPRT, totally 无缘with TTI. Missed his GME and SPRT calls as I don't comb through all posts in IN. Both times (think a couple other calls as well) saw his posts too late, and skipped taking a position. If only there is an alert function like a buzz tone whenever he makes such calls 😅
