Danaos Corporation (Danaos) provides international seaborne transportation services by operating vessels in the containership sector of the shipping industry. The Company is principally engaged in the acquisition and operation of vessels. Danaos conducts its operations through the vessel owning companies whose principal activity is the ownership and operation of containerships. As of February 22, 2013, the Company had a fleet of 63 containerships aggregating 360,004 twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs). As of February 22, 2013, these customers included China Shipping, CMA-CGM, Hanjin, Hyundai, Maersk, MSC, TS Lines, Yang Ming and ZIM Israel Integrated Shipping Services. The Company's vessels operate worldwide, carrying containers for many charterers. On February 13, 2013, the Company sold and delivered the Independence.
