Reply to @vincentwong10 : Yup! If a company really wants to be fraudulent, they could still find ways to do it and escape detection by the auditors. In history, we already have enough such fraudulent cases overseas (Enron and one of the big five auditor Arthur Andersen scandal) and even in Singapore (there was one case which I forgotten the name of the company), needless to mention several fraudulent S-chip companies as well. Thus, even audited financial statements are not insured 100% against fraudulence though an audited statement is at least better than an unaudited one with reasonable sufficient due diligence checks done on the former.
