Please do not merge auto bus with electric bus. they are completely different. Electric bus is for the environment, but the lack of charging points are the main hurdles for its popularity, besides ts high cost.
Driverless buses, on the hand, is a totally different animal. Its hurdles are plenty, and not due to technology. It is due to human. Socially, politically, safety, legal, infrastratural etc etc..
