Not a keen fan of car but here is my calculations. Time is priceless. But if i pay time with money so i can spend more time just for myself...that is abit boliao la. However turtle is doing it as a family so his money actually pay for bundle discount and save up the whole family time. So i think for turtle case car is more worth it

Honda and toyota are safe bets for 2nd hand cars. Look at no of ownership and mileage. go for 1 or 2. use 10k mileage per year as a guide. Before purchase, send it to your trusted workshop to do a detail evaluation so that you will not buy a lemon. They will inspect the under carriage, check for leaks and suspension, aircon brake pads. You need to do a one time overhaul and to ensure wear and tears are replaced and do an engine flushed. Also get a set of new tyres. sharing my experience of buying second hand cars.
